Health and Wellness have been one of our messages under the theme of prevention, as in “An Ounce of Prevention is Worth a Pound of Cure,” to match our saying for the Cravaat®: “An Ounce of Protection is Worth a Pound of Laundry.”
We believe the best way to tackle illness is to eat and live healthy and avoid sickness in the first place. As someone who always felt like cancer loomed in my life because my grandmother died from it when I was very young, I’ve always paid attention to advice on what foods would help me avoid that disease. Even in 9th grade, when my very enlightened Biology teacher brought in college students to talk about colon cancer, I started eating foods like Grape Nuts because they suggested the fiber was beneficial to prevent cancer.
As more and more studies show that certain chemicals are cancer causing, or damaging our bodies in some way, it becomes increasing clear that we should consume natural unprocessed foods —you know, a fresh red apple, a crisp green piece of broccoli, etc. — and try to steer to the organics and non-gmo choices. That is if you want to live a long and healthy life.
I recently discovered a source for everything Health and Wellness, and in keeping with another one of our blog themes: Time Saving Tips, we decided to– instead of reinventing the wheel– share the website with you. It’s positivehealthwellness.com. This wonderful website has a wealth of knowledge on how to live a healthy life.
They have articles about Diet & Nutrition, as well as Beauty & Aging. You may be at an age where dieting is not on your radar, but maintaining a healthy weight and doing it nutritional probably is. Is Hypertension a concern? They have an article about it. Sick of your brittle nails? They have an article about it.
One article I particularly love is: 7 Simple Exercises to Try for the Over 50 Year Olds. It reminds me how simple it is to get a little exercise. (Just typing about it reminded me to pick up my little dumbbell on my desk and do a few lifts. Every little bit counts, right?)
So check out this site and get motivated to put (or keep) health and wellness in your life. If you are a caregiver, healthy tips will benefit both you and the person you’re caring for. And don’t forget to wear your Cravaat® while you’re reading the articles during your lunch break. You’ll be so focused on the great information, you just might spill. That’s when you’ll be thrilled that you had that ounce of protection to save you a pound of laundry.
